I owe my life to the film industry. My mother and father met on the set of Utu and if it wasn't for that film I wouldn't have been born.  So I feel that I owe a debt of gratitude to the industry that made me. As a film archivist for the past 7 years I have made contributions to help preserve the film legacy of Aotearoa.  And in recent years I have had the privilege of participating in the industry myself as a director and writer of my own feature documentary. ‘Merata Mita - How my mother decolonised the screen’.

I aim to further serve the industry, by joining the board of Ngā Aho Whakaari to advocate for Māori film makers, to support the ongoing preservation of Māori media and to help support those in the industry working with archival footage.
