Once again Te Mangai Paho chief Executive, Larry Parr, doubled the putea available for our TV and Web series Pitching competition. As a sponsor of Nga Aho Whakaari Hui-a-tau, TMP has usually supported the Pitching event with a winning purse of $5,000.00 but at our last hui and again this year the calibre of ideas was of a high standard.

The judges chose Bridgette Tapsell as this years winner with her ‘R’ rated series idea ‘Hangi Pants’.

Larry was also impressed with stories pitched by Anaru Naden and Tamara Wharerau who will both receive $2,500.00 each. Anaru’s pitch was for a children’s animated series in Te Reo and Tamara’s will provide a guide for Tamariki based on a book she has created that will soon be published.

The Hui-a-tau offers the opportunity for emerging Māori writers and directors to pitch for development support as they hone their ideas.

Last Hui Pitching winners were Paula Whetu Jones and Andre King. Both pitched comedy series.
